Receive files
To download files shared via Retyc, you do not always need an account. The behavior depends on how the sender configured their transfer.
Case 1 — Public link (no account required)
The sender has not restricted access: anyone with the link can download.
- Open the shared link
- Enter the password if the transfer is password-protected
- Click on Download
Decryption takes place in your browser. The files arrive in plain text on your device.
Case 2 — Link restricted to your email address
The sender has added you as an explicit recipient. The link is tied to your email address and can only be used after logging in.
- Open the link received by email (or copied by the sender)
- Log in to your Retyc account (or create one)
- Unlock your key with your passphrase
- Click on Download
Retyc automatically decrypts the files with your private key.
Case 3 — Sharing link (you are the recipient)
If someone used your personal sharing link (see Sharing link), the files appear directly in your dashboard under Transfers > Inbox.
Finding your files in the dashboard
Transfers for which you are an explicit recipient (email or personal link) appear in Dashboard > Transfers > Inbox. You can decrypt and download them at any time during the validity period.
Decryption always takes place in your browser. Retyc's servers never see your files in plain text.
