Manage your organization
Organizations allow multiple users to collaborate under a single Retyc account, with shared quotas and centralized access management.
What is an organization?
An organization groups together users belonging to the same company or team. It allows:
- An individual storage quota per member (each member has their own quota)
- Centralized management of users by administrators
- Data rooms accessible to the entire organization
Management happens from Dashboard > Organization, organized into tabs:
| Tab | Content |
|---|---|
| General | Organization overview (name, subscription, role) |
| Members | Member invitation and management (this page) |
| Customization | Organization logo (this page) |
| Security | Blocked domains, master key, history retention. See Security |
| Labels | Labels and sharing rules. See Organization labels |
| Export Data | Export of members and resources (this page) |
| API keys | Access to the Retyc public API. See API keys |
| SSO | Single sign-on through your identity provider. See SSO |
Roles within an organization
Each member of an organization has one of the following three roles:
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Member | Send and receive files, access shared data rooms |
| Admin | Everything a member can do + invite members, change their role, remove them, manage the organization |
| Owner | The owner of the organization (usually its creator). Same rights as an admin, plus billing |
Owner and Admin are the only roles that can manage members. The Owner role is unique and cannot be assigned to another member: it stays attached to the organization owner.
A user can belong to only one organization at a time. Someone already attached to an organization cannot be invited to another one.
Inviting a member
Reserved for Owner and Admin.
- Go to Dashboard > Organization, in the Members section
- Click on Invite people
- Enter the person's email address, then click Send invitation
The behavior depends on the invited person:
- They already have a Retyc account (and don't belong to any organization): they are added directly to the organization with the Member role.
- They don't have an account yet: an invitation email is sent to them to create their account. They appear in the members list once their account is created through the invitation.
Pending invitations (not yet accepted) are visible in the Members section.
The number of members is limited by your plan. If the limit is reached, the invite button is disabled: remove a member or upgrade your plan to invite more.
Viewing a member
From the members list, click on a person to open their profile. There you see their role, their status (active, invited…), their registration date, their language, and their encryption keys (each key being a hybrid post-quantum key, active or revoked). However, a member's storage usage is never visible to administrators.
Changing a member's role
Reserved for Owner and Admin.
From the members list, change a person's role between Member and Admin. The Owner role cannot be assigned this way.
Removing a member
Reserved for Owner and Admin.
In the members list, click on the delete action next to the relevant member. What happens depends on where the account comes from:
- Account created by the organization (managed member): the person created their account through the organization's invitation. Removal permanently deletes their Retyc account and all their data: transfers, encryption keys, data rooms they own.
- Pre-existing account (unmanaged member): the person already had a Retyc account before joining the organization. Removal simply detaches them from the organization: their individual account lives on with their files, and their current sessions are closed.
Before removing a managed member, make sure to preserve what must be: have them transfer ownership of their active data rooms, otherwise they will be deleted along with the account.
Export data
Reserved for Owner and Admin.
The Export Data tab lets you download, as JSON (full export, recommended) or CSV (simplified export, flattened data):
- The organization members: list of members with their role, status and identity information.
- The resources: inventory of the transfers sent by your members and the data rooms they own, whatever their state (active, expired, disabled or deleted).

Quota
Each member has their own individual storage quota. Each member's usage is not visible to administrators.
Organization logo
From the Customization tab, you can add your organization's logo. It will be displayed on the download pages shared with your recipients. Supported formats: PNG, JPG and WEBP, 200 KiB maximum.
